Doing much better!

As most of you know already, Katelynn had her 2nd ER visit on Wednesday. To make a long story short:
We had been sitting and watching TV for a while and Katelynn had been sitting on Chris' lap. He looked down at her and noticed her eyes were rolling upward and then her head flopped over. Chris started yelling her name but she wasn't responding. She also wasn't breathing. We frantically called 911 and soon discovered she was having a seizure. Chris blew air into her mouth and she eventually started breathing on her own again. Soon after the paramedics arrived and they told us that she had a Febrile seizure (a seizure brought on by high fever) and that we should take her to the ER to be checked out by a doctor. Tamara rode with Katie in the ambulance to the ER and Chris drove the car. Dad and Mom came to the hospital too. Dad and Chris gave Katelynn a blessing. The nurse gave Katelynn Tylenol for her fever and they did several tests to rule out bacterial infections, pneumonia, etc. All tests came back normal. After 2 hours we were able to take her home, and arrived home close to 1 am. She was feeling better and talking, playing and dancing. The next morning she still had a fever and we gave her more med. Around noon she had some of the symptoms of seizure again but didn't go into a full seizure. She had an appointment with her pediatrician soon after that. She advised us on medication usage and also did a strep test to rule that out - it came back negative. She told us it could be Roseola and that she could get a rash.

Yesterday her fever broke and a rash set in. Here is a defintion of Roseola. Roseola is a viral illness in young children, most commonly affecting those between the ages of 6 months and 2 years. It is typically marked by several days of high fever, followed by a distinctive rash just as the fever breaks. The rash can last from several hours to several days.

Well it was quite the experience to say the least. It was the most scared we've ever been in our lives. We are so grateful Katelynn is okay and that it wasn't anything worse. We so grateful to our family and friends for all the love and support, and prayers in our behalf. Katelynn is feeling much better and we've been to catch up on a little sleep. Here are some pictures we took today just hanging out.

We had a fun Mother's Day yesterday. We went and visited Grandpa Jesse and Grandma Mary and then Grandpa Tony and Grandma LaVerne.
We got a cute picture of Katelynn with Grandma Mary, she was barking like Ginger, the doggie (she loves dogs and cats).

At Grandpa Tony and Grandma LaVerne's house we had Root Beer floats, Katie had fun playing with her cousins and Tamara got to play a game of Cranium with several of the family (she loves games!)

Fun with cousins

We had Nikki and Garrett over today. Katie just loves to have lots of cousins to play with!

Diaper fun

They learn so young! Katie loves to diaper her dolls and bears. When I ask her to lay down on her changing mat she'll often put a doll or bear down instead.

Tike on her trike

Katie just loves to ride her tricycle. It's so nice to be able to get outside!

Brooke White

I am so sad Brooke got voted off American Idol. She was definitely my favorite and the whole reason I watched the show. She got a phone call from Carly Simon the next morning which boosted her spirits - cool huh. I know I could never handle the pressure of being on a show like that.

Brooke has an album out from 2006 called "Songs from the Attic" - it was just re-released on the website: brookwhite.com - selling for $14.99. She sounds great! You can listen to excerpts from the CD on that site and also see her music video for the song "Free". (She co-wrote the CD). I added her banner and preview for the CD to our blog - see below by the playlist. You can click on the banner to get directly to the website or listen to the songs from her CD by hitting play on the preview (remember to pause our playlist).

Here is what it says on the website about the CD:
"Brooke White, the nanny that won our hearts on American Idol and gave all of herself to us every week can now be heard on a full length album released by New Millennium Records Group (NMRG)."Songs From the Attic" is Brooke's debut album from 2006 and it's sure to become an instant classic. This 11 song CD captures the essence of all that is pure and honest about songwriting which is a direct reflection of who Brooke White is as a person. Bonus tracks include cover versions on "Dream On" by Aerosmith and "Yellow" by Coldplay."

I can't wait to get her CD! Hope she does lots more CDs. Check out the website or listen to the songs on our blog.
