Doing much better!

As most of you know already, Katelynn had her 2nd ER visit on Wednesday. To make a long story short:
We had been sitting and watching TV for a while and Katelynn had been sitting on Chris' lap. He looked down at her and noticed her eyes were rolling upward and then her head flopped over. Chris started yelling her name but she wasn't responding. She also wasn't breathing. We frantically called 911 and soon discovered she was having a seizure. Chris blew air into her mouth and she eventually started breathing on her own again. Soon after the paramedics arrived and they told us that she had a Febrile seizure (a seizure brought on by high fever) and that we should take her to the ER to be checked out by a doctor. Tamara rode with Katie in the ambulance to the ER and Chris drove the car. Dad and Mom came to the hospital too. Dad and Chris gave Katelynn a blessing. The nurse gave Katelynn Tylenol for her fever and they did several tests to rule out bacterial infections, pneumonia, etc. All tests came back normal. After 2 hours we were able to take her home, and arrived home close to 1 am. She was feeling better and talking, playing and dancing. The next morning she still had a fever and we gave her more med. Around noon she had some of the symptoms of seizure again but didn't go into a full seizure. She had an appointment with her pediatrician soon after that. She advised us on medication usage and also did a strep test to rule that out - it came back negative. She told us it could be Roseola and that she could get a rash.

Yesterday her fever broke and a rash set in. Here is a defintion of Roseola. Roseola is a viral illness in young children, most commonly affecting those between the ages of 6 months and 2 years. It is typically marked by several days of high fever, followed by a distinctive rash just as the fever breaks. The rash can last from several hours to several days.

Well it was quite the experience to say the least. It was the most scared we've ever been in our lives. We are so grateful Katelynn is okay and that it wasn't anything worse. We so grateful to our family and friends for all the love and support, and prayers in our behalf. Katelynn is feeling much better and we've been to catch up on a little sleep. Here are some pictures we took today just hanging out.

So glad she's doing better!!! I remember I thought Kiddo had West Nile (since that was the Affliction of the Week) when he came down with Roseola a few months ago. (Fever, headache, rash - any one of a million things...oy!)

Doctors should really warn a person!!!

Hope your Sabbath is restful!!! :-)

Oh wow - Kiddo had Roseola a few months ago? Did he get a bad rash? Katie's is not too bad.

His was pretty much torso-arms-neck, but it sure spread quickly! Very panic-inducing, but not horrible. I also thought he might be having a reaction to the Tylenol or detergent or something, LOL. But he was totally unfazed by it, and it also went away almost as quickly as it came... mostly subsided by the next day, and totally gone within two days, if I remember right. It's like, they look the worst right when they start feeling better! :-)

Hope Katie's is clearing up for ya! :-)

So good to hear Katie is doing well! We haven't experienced Roseola here, but I will remember so if it happens, I will have an idea what to expect.

Glad to here she is on the up and up- what a scary thing to go through!
you were asking about AZ weather- when we moved here in October (late October) it was still warm. "winter" can get chilly at night, but you don't need winter coats here- a sweater now and then. so imagine we will be dealing with this warm weather for 5-6 months- it will "cool" down in Sept. /October maybe- if I am lucky :0)
